The preamble (epilogue) editor facilitates inserting template tags using the various popup menus at the top of the window. See Templates for more information about template tags.
The preamble (epilogue) may serve two functions:
It can be used to prefix (suffix) the contents of the HTML web page or file, say to personalize the page using template tags.
In this case the preamble (epilogue) should be formatted using using HTML.
In the absence of a web page or file to send the preamble (or epilogue) will be used as the message itself.
In this case the preamble (or epilogue) should be plain text, and not be formatted using using HTML.
Insert Address Book Tab popup button:
Address Book tags correspond to values on the Address Book card of the current recipient. (Note that you may need to edit your Address book card template to access the various values that display in the popup menu.)
Insert Mail Tag popup button:
Mail tags correspond to values maintained by Mailings, such as the recipients first and last name.
Insert AppleScript Tag button:
Browse the file system for the AppleScript you want to create a tag for. The file extension of the script should be "applescript". The tag name is simply the path to the AppleScript file. The tag is replaced by the value of the script after it runs.
See Templates for more information about template tags.
